Make a Chinese Lantern
What You Need
Strong Construction Paper or Wall Paper
approximately 12" x 18" construction paper, assorted colors or approximately 12" x 18" white drawing paper
scissors
crayons, markers, and/or paints

What to Do
Use either colored paper or white paper for the lantern. If using white paper, you can decorate the lantern paper using any designs or colors you like, a Chinese motif would look nice. (Red is considered a lucky color for the Chinese).
Fold decorated paper in half the long way
Make cuts along the folded side about every 1 1/2 to 2 inches. Be careful not to cut all the way through.
Unfold the paper and round and bend the short sides together. Staple the open area at the top bottom and middle.

Cut a strip of paper and staple it across the top for a handle.
You can put a small flash light inside to light up your lantern.
